Intercessory Prayer for the Priests of the Diocese of Orlando

With the generous support of Bishop John Noonan, the mission of “Pray for Priests” is to provide much-needed intercessory prayer support for priests in the Diocese of Orlando.

Men and women of the diocese who desire to anonymously intercede for a priest will be assigned a priest for whom he or she commits to offer daily prayer for the protection and thriving of their priesthood. Intercessors may offer prayer, holy hours, devotions, fasting, or personal Mass intentions for their assigned priest.

“Pray for Priests Orlando” leadership will provide all the support these men and women will need in their ministry of praying for priests. We will provide catechetical resources on intercessory prayer and support for the volunteers. Intercessors will be given an opportunity to gather once or twice a year for a holy hour or prayer for priests. We place this mission under the protection of Our Lady, Queen of the Clergy and Saint John Vianney, patron saint of parish priests.

Who May Become an Intercessor for Priests?

Through prayer, sacrifice, and Eucharistic adoration, intercessors support and sustain our priests in the living out of their vocation. Regardless of age or marital status, all adult women and men (age 21 and over) in the Diocese of Orlando may become intercessors for priests.

The characteristics of an intercessor include a commitment to prayer, an anonymous offering of prayer for an adopted priest, and an openness to meet with other intercessors to pray for priests as a community one or twice a year, although this is not required to participate.

An intercessor offers themselves to God in prayer on behalf of their adopted priest and becomes a point through which an abundance of God’s grace might flow to bless the priest and sanctify his work in God’s Kingdom!
